Sports Philosophy
We believe that education encompasses
more than books and classrooms. The playing court
or field also develop life-related skills - a strong
work ethic, integrity, self-control, team work,
discipline, self-sacrifice, physical fitness, and
a positive attitude, in addition to others.
We believe that sports should
be fun, instructive, structured and encouraging.
Students should enjoy participating. We want our
students to learn how to win graciously and lose
graciously. Our ultimate goal is to glorify the
Lord Jesus Christ through our athletic participation.
Our inter-school competitive
sports’ program begins at the 3rd grade and runs
through high school for girls and boys. For the
younger children, our goal is to teach the fundamentals
and provide a safe environment where students enjoy
playing. At the high school level, we compete through
Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA)
in the
Casco League at the 1-A level, participating
with other Christian and private schools as well
as public schools. High school sports include outdoor
co-ed soccer, girls volleyball, girls and boys basketball,
and co-ed track and field.
The Damascus Christian School
Eagles have left their mark sending various teams
to State championship competitions as well as garnering
league and State sportsmanship and scholar-athlete
awards.
