In Luke 24:21, the resurrected Jesus drew near to some disciples walking on the road to Emmaus. Having just watched Jesus's crucifixion and death, and unaware that the resurrected Jesus was talking to them, they expressed their discouragement and feeling of defeat, saying: "...we had hoped that he was the one to redeem Israel. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened."
These disciples had hoped that God would deliver Israel from its enemies and sorrows, but the passing of time, and not recognizing what Jesus was doing among them, brought discouragement and sorrow.
There are times in our lives when we feel what these disciples felt. And so, this Good Friday (March 29), we want to join them on their walk with Jesus and express our discouragements and sorrows to Him in prayer and lament, as we seek to find healing and a Haven in Christ, together.
To help facilitate that, we are inviting you fill out THIS FORM with a response to this question: "What have you been hoping that God would do in your life or in the life of someone you know, but the passing of time, and not knowing what Jesus is doing in the situation has brought you discouragement and sorrow?"
The pastoral team will keep the content of your responses confidential, but will use them in developing the prayer themes for our Good Friday service.
